The New Star Discovered

The biggest star found by British Scientists

The gigantic star discovered by British scientist is 320 times bigger and 10 million times brighter than the Sun. The discovery was made by a team led by Professor Paul Crowther while they were studying the cluster of stars in a galaxy next to our milky way.
Professor Crowther has been working in department of Astrophysics at  University of Sheffield using one of the largest telescope and hubble space telescope.
If this new star takes the place of our sun, it would reduce the Earth’s years to three weeks. It is 150 times the mass of solar masses.
It is a rare case of such heavy mass of a star and unlikely to be seen in near future. They are still studying the reason for its huge mass.
It is named R136a1. It is considered as a middle aged star and has lost 5th of its mass since its birth a million year ago. Even then, to vishualise the size of the star think of an aeroplane taking a journey to this new found star. The aeroplane with speed of 900 km/hr would take 1100 years to complete a round around R136a1.
The star was found within a cluster
