Jagjit Singh: A Legend to Remember

Chitra and Jagjit

Performing in Dal Lake
Jagjit Singh was a legend and his songs will ever be remembered for centuries to come. His voice has depth and a melody that touches your heart. His ghazals have reached world wide population and as said very often that music has no language,   it should tune with your rhythm and heart.
Family of three
At the age of seventy, he died at Mumbai hospital struggling with cancer. His fans and admirers bid tearful farewell.
It took a life time for him to get over the death of his only son who died in an accident at his prime youth. His wife Chitra Singh, also a ghazal singer, stopped singing and it is only after many years that she resumed singing. It was a popular pair who sang together not only ghazals but also devotional songs of Rama and Krishna.

The celebrity singer had yet to face more tragedy when his step daughter Monica Chaudhery committed suicide at the age of forty five.

Winter In UK

Christmas in 2010
Christmas hasn't been white for a long long time. People thought this time it will be nice and cozy Christmas as good old days but it is much too early to predict so. However, the disruption to transport system is inevitable and flights, trains and road transports are affected despite  regular gritting on the main roads.
I live around Woking and the picture above tells you the story of snow early this December. Needless to say  the schools were closed for a couple of days and the roads and streets were a bit too quiet for Christmas shopping. Then again, it is mid December and the snow shower has interrupted the regular commuters. This time people are taking it as its face value.
Warnings were in place before the snowfall and yet people decided to be adventurous and did travel to meet their loved ones.

UK weather in 2013
It is strange but true, people have not witnessed such cold draft and frosty nights since 1969. There is little hope to see real spring in March - April this year. Unlike last year when at this time one could see the bright sun and blooming daffodils all around.
